The Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered OLX to remove all advertisements connected to the sale of items and only display those advertisements that include two identification cards of seller
The Punjab and Haryana High Court’s ruling in the fraud case against OLX, a website for the sale and purchase of products, has been stayed by the Supreme Court. In one case, the High Court ordered OLX India to set up a screening system to determine the seller’s genuine identity. The case involves the purchase of a motorbike.
A bench of Justice UU Lalit, Justice S Ravindra Bhat, and Justice Bela M Trivedi of the Supreme Court has issued a notice to OLX, placing an interim stay on the High Court’s judgement, which the business must answer to by March 4. The case concerns an OLX advertising for the sale of a motorbike. It was eventually discovered that the individual who placed the advertising was not the motorcycle’s owner.
The case was taken to the police station after the false transaction. Following that, the High Court ordered OLX to remove all advertisements relating to the sale of items and only display those advertisements with the seller’s two identity cards. This will assist the customer in avoiding being a victim of any type of scam. Two of the seller’s cellphone numbers were also requested to be made public on the High Court’s orders. For the time being, the Supreme Court has issued a stay order on the High Court’s orders.
